If anyone can write and record “Shooting From The Hip”- then please forward to me the song for inclusion in the roleplay. If you can create a news clipping montage to the song and upload to YouTube then better still! But try not to tread on anyone’s IPR toes in the process or we’ll have another dispute scenario to contend with

Scenario
Amy Daniels is an up and coming singer/songwriter. Although still only performing in local bars and clubs , she is beginning to become noticed, especially after she recorded a very cleverly written satirical song about Sarah Palin (”Shooting From The Hip”) which, after being aired on her local radio station, is becoming noticed in the download charts. Someone has also posted a video version with the track playing to news footage that has become a YouTube hit. Finally a major label has offered Amy a contract with a $50,000 advance fee.
Jack Nash is an old flame of Amy’s mother, Marge Daniels, who some two years previously, tried to help her career. Jack owned a string of bars and tried to gain her bookings and a recording contract. Although he did succeed with a string of small club bookings , he could not gain a major label and ceased managing her for all effective purposes a year ago when he ended his affair with Marge for another woman.
Having read about Amy’s recent success, Jack wrote to Amy to remind her that she had signed a 10 year exclusive management contract that gave him 20% of all earnings. Amy had forgotten about the contract. She had signed it without advice. She now claims that it had been long since breached by Jack by non-performance (in her case quite literally!).
Jack is threatening to sue for 20% of the record label advance and all bookings and earnings over the following 8 years.
