With the internet being at our disposal, it is easy for us to access myriad resources, including those that should not be accessible. Music has become a major issue in terms of downloading and sharing files, or in other words, stealing. Artists who invest time and money into their careers are in jeopardy of losing money or having their music stolen because the internet gives us easy access to those resources. ODR would be beneficial for Peace TOnes to market their music because it would act as their representative. Being that Peace Tones is an organization in which developing countries are making music, it would be easy for someone to steal these people’s music and call it their own, as they may not have the resources to legally defend their music or copyright/protect their work. “While the application of ODR is not limited to disputes arising out of business to consumer (B2C) online transactions, it seems to be particularly apt for these disputes, since it is logical to use the same medium (the internet) for the resolution of e-commerce disputes when parties are frequently located far from one another” (wiki ODR). Peace Tones can thrive and make money for these developing countries if programs can be implemented so that the internet is not laissez faire to the point where people’s right are infringed upon.

I’d certainly agree with that, Brad. The cross cultural challenges would seem to preclude online intervention, particularly in a culture that values face-to-face interaction and long term family knowledge and personal introduction. On the other hand, I could see how online interventions among same country soldiers might be useful if there was not someone with the requisite skills deployed with the group.

I agree that ODR is very necessary, especially in the case of peacetones. The countries in which the music is being produced in, are mostly not technologically equip. / or the locals do not know how to protect themselves from online crimes and piracy.

ODR provides a significant service to protect people who are not very knowledgable of the internet. Nowadays many people fall victim to an array of different fradulent behavior and scams which are carried out online, sometimes on international levels, from hackers, and criminals, 10,000 miles away

Peacetones is also an excellent way to spread cultural music to people all over the world. It gives the locals some money, who are living in a very poor economy, and it also unites people everywhere through music.

I’m a student at Umass, Amherst and have used debate graph a few times before. At the beginning i found it very difficult to use and to navigate myself around. but like all new technology, you end up learning very quickly by just clicking around and exploring the new creation. debate graph is a great way to organize your ideas and read and learn from others who decide to join your discussion. i found it very helpful and easy to get my opinion out because i felt i less personal than when you’re in class arguing with fellow classmates.
